Tottenham to receive late challenge from West Ham in Federico Chiesa pursuit
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Spurs are set to receive a challenge from local rivals West Ham United in their pursuit of Juventus forward Federico Chiesa.
Linked with a move to North London all summer, the 26-year-old has been tipped as one of the many players the Bianconeri are willing to offload to usher in a new era under new coach Thiago Motta.
A fee in the region of €25-30 million is expected to satisfy the Old Lady as the Lilywhites receive a challenge for the Italy international’s signature from the Hammers. Cristiano Ronaldo is said to be a huge fan of Chiesa, from their time playing together in Turin.
Additionally, in a recent interview given to Bianconera News, FIFA-licensed agent David Lavelle has offered further insight into Chiesa’s situation and the interest in him from the Premier League.
“I haven’t heard anything about it (Chiesa joining Spurs), to be honest.
“I haven’t heard anything (official) about that rumour. This is news to me.
“He is a very, very good player. There is definitely a chance (he will move to the Premier League). I spoke to Cristiano (Giuntoli) and I think he could find a chance at a couple of Premier League clubs and I can say that we have some requests for a left winger from Fulham, who would be willing to pay, and from West Ham.
“But it is tough. It will be very tough to convince him.
“I mean, who among the big clubs has €35 million in the Premier League to buy him? It will be tough to sell him. Tottenham could be an option for Chiesa, but they have quite a few players in that position. However, I doubt they will pay €35m.”
Lavelle speaking about Chiesa, as quoted by Hammers.news.
Chiesa’s €9.26m-a-year contract at Juve is set to expire at the end of this season.
Chiesa moved to Turin from Fiorentina on an initial two-year loan worth €12.6 million, which was made permanent in 2022 for €44.6 million. (Source: Transfermarkt)
Both London clubs could use Chiesa
For the money he is available at and given his talent, it is understandable why both Spurs and West Ham are interested in him despite his recent form and injury concerns.
One of the key abilities both sides will be keeping in mind would be Chiesa’s effectiveness both centrally and out wide on either flank, offering them key reinforcement especially when one keeps in mind that West Ham could lose the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen, while the same can be said for Spurs in terms of Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski.

Of course, it wouldn’t necessarily hurt Chiesa’s chances if he were to run down the last year of his Juve contract to move for free next summer and get a much bigger contract, but of course, his current employers would not want that.
