Spurs hold firm on Emerson Royal price tag amid AC Milan interest
Emerson Royal has been linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The South American defender has found himself down the pecking order at White Hart Lane since Ange Postecoglou took charge of the club. He started last season as the first choice in his position, although Pedro Porro soon took over the reins in the right-back role, and the Spaniard has seamlessly fit into the Australian gaffer’s style of play.
AC Milan have established links with a move for Emerson as they look to introduce a highly tactical attacking brand of football at San Siro under Paulo Fonseca. And they are looking for someone who can be a more mobile option than Davide Calabria, who at times struggles to get back to his positions when the play resets.
This has prompted Milan to fortify attempts to bring Emerson to the Italian top tier this summer. They have established contacts with the club, the player, and his representatives; however, the Serie A side haven’t found common terms on fees with Spurs.
Stalemate continues?
While this saga has dragged on for a while, many felt that the end is around the corner and Royal is on the verge of becoming a Milan player. Both clubs scheduled talks yesterday, and the general tone was that an agreement would be reached between both sides. However, per the latest reports from Calcio Mercato, the Italian giants haven’t found an agreement with Daniel Levy yet, and this will postpone Emerson Royal’s sale.
The Brazilian’s current market value is €18m, according to Transfermarkt. Spurs do seem to be asking for more than that though.

We will see how this works, but by the looks of it, Emerson will stay at White Hart Lane for a few more days.
