Spurs desperate to offload Reguilon
Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer, and the club are adamant to part ways with the Spaniard before going into a new season.
Senior correspondent at Football Insider, Paul O’Keefe, has confirmed that the North Londoners are desperate to find a new suitor for the Real Madrid academy graduate who walks into the final year of his contract at N17.
Daniel Levy brought the defender to Hotspur Way following his exemplary season at Sevilla, as Spurs shed out a mammoth £32 million to land his signatures. However, he has struggled to find his feet at Tottenham, and that has resulted in a roller coaster of loan moves away from the club.
Tottenham, meanwhile, have found a gem in the left-back position as Ange Postecoglou has introduced an aggressive attacking brand of football and Destiny Udogie has seamlessly transformed into one of the best left-sided full-backs in the English top tier.
Reguilon and Lo Celso are out in the cold as Spurs seek new suitor
Meanwhile, Copa America winner Giovani Lo Celso is another one on the chopping block for Spurs. The ex-Villarreal star £70,000 per week at the N17 whilst Reguilon earns around £53,000 per week. This would be a total of £123,000 per week off their wage books.
Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, O’Keefe acknowledged that the Europa League winner with Sevilla alongside Giovanni Lo Celso are two players that the officials at N17 are urgently trying to offload.
He said:
“Lo Celso and Reguilon will be the two who they are desperately trying to get rid of. Reguilon has absolutely no future at Tottenham whatsoever.”
The defender is surplus to needs at White Hart Lane at the moment and is considered among the priorities to be sold off this summer.
Tottenham have not had any game time coming his way in the ongoing pre-season, and that could be a huge factor in ensuring that he focuses his time on finding a potential suitor for himself.
