Bayern Munich open to listening to loan offers for Kingsley Coman amid Tottenham interest
According to a report from Sky Sports Germany (h/t Football London), Bayern Munich are ready to allow Kingsley Coman to depart this summer amid links with Tottenham Hotspur.
Kingsley Coman, 28, has been a pivotal player for Bayern Munich since arriving from Juventus in 2015, initially on loan, helping Die Roten win a lot of trophies over the years. The winger has made 294 appearances across all competitions for the German club thus far, scoring 63 goals and supplying 66 assists.
However, the Frenchman’s career at Bayern has been mostly ravaged by various injury problems. He endured a difficult 2023/24 campaign due to several serious injury issues, limiting him to only 27 appearances in all formats. After struggling for game time last season, owing to a combination of medial ligament tear and an adductor problem, the 28-year-old’s future at the Allianz Arena has been plunged into doubt.
The aforementioned report (h/t Football London) adds Bayern are open to sanctioning a loan exit for Coman. They will be satisfied with an option or obligation to buy inserted in any potential loan bids.
After representing France at Euro 2024—albeit in a limited capacity—Coman has returned to Bayern for pre-season with his future in doubt. New Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany is yet to take a concrete decision on the Frenchman, who is attracting interest from clubs across Europe.
Kompany, the Manchester City legend, could actually do Tottenham a favour by transfer-listing Coman, who was a favourite of former Bayern boss Hansi Flick. After Bayern’s draw with RB Leipzig in a Bundesliga game back in 2020, Flick has praised the explosive wide player and urged other players to match ‘his level’.
“We have four wingers of very good quality. At the moment Kingsley is the one who sets the tone, radiates a goal threat and assists. I would like everyone to have this level,” Flick had waxed lyrical about Coman four years ago.
Spurs have been previously linked with Coman but a move didn’t materialise. Now with Bayern willing to listen to loan offers for their star winger, the Lilywhites must revive their interest in the player given the lack of quality depth in wide areas.
None of Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson or Manor Solomon were consistent last season. While Kulusevski and Johnson did contribute to some extent, Solomon had a challenging campaign due to injury problems. Spurs are now willing to let the Israel international leave on loan amid interest from clubs across England, Germany and Spain.

If Solomon leaves, the north Londoners could replace him in the squad by Coman. While Coman is much more productive, experienced and impactful than Solomon, the only concern for Spurs will be the Frenchman’s abysmal injury record at Bayern. Should Spurs sign the 28-year-old on loan and help him keep his fitness intact, he’d represent a major coup in the final weeks of the transfer window.
