Bayern Munich’s Vincent Kompany was asked about the club’s long awaited defensive midfielder signing, João Palhinha in an interview with Bundesliga.
Talking about Palhinha’s best aspect as a player, Kompany was quick to answer: “I can just name it easily because it’s very obvious to see his biggest quality – it’s defensively how he reads the game and the amount of balls he can recover. He’s a player who has the qualities on the ball to be a Bayern Munich player.”
Kompany continued, emphasizing the importance of being a team: “Like I said, it’s normal to talk about one individual because it’s a new player that we’re now integrating into the team, but my biggest wish is for him to be a part of the team, and for him to play a role to make the team stronger and that we put the team first. I think he can be a player that helps us achieve that ideal.”
Palhinha’s Bayern debut came against Tottenham, and it was a promising as could be. His addition to the squad definitely strengthens Bayern, and it is now up to how well Kompany can use him this season.
