Bayern Munich and Thomas Müller have shared plenty of successes in the past decade and a half. Bayern, during this time, has adopted a pressing approach quite a bit. However, in the 2023/2024 season under Thomas Tuchel, Bayern’s pressing disappeared, only appearing from time to time when Thomas Müller was on the pitch. Müller of course would be a player who would be happy with the return of pressing as he leads the press at the club. Müller spoke about Kompany’s new approach.
“I still see my strengths in creating chances and scoring goals. Of course, I like the fact that we have a pressing approach again, that suits my strengths. I saw in the Champions League semi-finals and at the Euros that I can still create goals and chances in a very short space of time, no matter the level. I’m happy that things are getting started again,” Müller told kicker’s Georg Holzner (via @iMiaSanMia).
Müller of course also spoke about his own strengths, strengths which he does not have to explain to the fanbase, a fanbase which is well aware of his worth to Bayern. In the meantime, it is good to hear that pressing is set to make a return to the Allianz Arena!
