The two chief pundits of Sky Germany, Lothar Matthäus and Didi Hamman, are split on whether Bayern Munich can win the Bundesliga this coming season. Despite strengthening the squad and firing Thomas Tuchel, it seems that the media at large can’t quite figure out what to make of Vincent Kompany’s new-look side.
Their predictions were can be found courtesy of @iMiaSanMia:
Both pundits seem to agree that Borussia Dortmund will finish third and RB Leipzig fourth. They also agree that Werder Bremen will finish 9th, and Union Berlin and Hoffenheim will finish 12th and 13th respectively (oddly specific). They also think that Holstein Kiel will be relegated for sure.
It’s the very top of the table they can’t seem to figure out — to be frank, after the season Leverkusen just had, you’d be foolish to count them out (even if Xabi Alonso doesn’t agree). Still, if Bayern Munich can return to some semblance of their “usual” self, then the title race should at least be a close one. Assuming no other teams are planning a Leverkusen-esque surprise of their own…
