Welcome back for another season of Bavarian Loan Works! Some Bayern Munich loanees already have a couple weeks of action under their belt due to other leagues starting before the Bundesliga and last weekend’s cup action. I already know one thing: this whole Laterkusen/Neverkusen storyline that is apparently still a thing is not going to be as fun this year without having a Bayern loanee to cheer for.
FC Bayern Munich
There are eight players on loan from the first team.
Germany – Bundesliga
There are two players on loan in the German Bundesliga: Alexander Nübel, Franz Krätzig, Paul Wanner, and Armando Sieb.
Alexander Nübel – VfB Stuttgart
Nübel and company have had a rough start to the season so far. Because of their second place finish last season and Leverkusen winning the double, Stuttgart got to participate in the Supercup. They were up a man and a goal, before conceding a late goal — of course — and then falling on penalties. Nübel only had one save and was not able to keep any of the four shots faced in the shootout out of the back of his net.
Stuttgart attempted to bounce back after the Supercup loss on the road to Freiburg. They got a great start with a goal in the second minute, but fell apart after then. Nübel saved two shots on goal, but unfortunately conceded three goals and Stuttgart fell 3-1.
Franz Krätzig – VfB Stuttgart
Krätzig came of the bench in the 62nd minute of the Supercup match and make an immediate impact. He broke the dead lock setting up a goal with an assist in the 63rd minute! Unfortunately he could not help Stuttgart put the game away with another goal before Leverkusen equalized. He also badly missed a penalty during the shootout.
Krätzig was not in the matchday squad for Stuttgart’s 3-1 loss against Stuttgart.
Stuttgart play their third away match to start the season — away to Preußen Münster in the DFB Pokal on Tuesday — before finally returning home to face Mainz 05 in league play.
Paul Wanner – 1.FC Heidenheim
Wanner started for Heidenheim in their DFB-Pokal match against FC 08 Villingen of the Regionalliga. He scored the third goal of four in Heidenheim’s blowout 4-0 win.
Wanner was on the bench for Heidenheim’s UEFA Conference League qualifier, but did not make it into the match. Heidenheim beat Häcken in Sweden 2-1.
Heidenheim started their second Bundesliga campaign off with a trip to a hostile St. Pauli — their first Bundesliga match since 2011. Wanner started and played spoiler to the homecoming party. In the 66th Heidenheim had a great counter that led to Wanner getting the ball in the box and slotting a shot past the keeper. Wanner subbed off in the 81st minute, up 1-0. His teammates added one more and they won 2-0.
Heidenheim will host Häcken in the second leg of the Conference League qualifiers on Thursday. They will also host Augsburg on Sunday in league play.
Armando Sieb – 1. FSV Mainz 05
Sieb started in the Pokal match against Wiesbaden. He had 3 shots — one on goal, one blocked, and one that missed completely. He also created a chance for his teammates to shoot. He was unable to break the deadlock while on the field and was subbed off in the 68th minute when the match was level at 1-1. Luckily Mainz found two goals in extra time to win 3-1.
Sieb started on the bench for the first Bundesliga match at home against Union Berlin. He came into the match in the 76th minute shortly after Berlin equalized at 1-1. In just 14 minutes he got two shots off and only made one pass. It was not enough to help his team find a goal and the two teams split the points in the season opener.
Mainz will face fellow Bayern loanees, Nübel and Krätzig, on Saturday in league play.
Spain – LaLiga
Bryan Zarazoga is the only player on loan to Spain’s LaLiga.
Bryan Zaragoza – CA Osasuna
Zaragoza and Osasuna started La Liga play with a home match against Leganes. He was on the bench to start but came on in the 60th minute. In 30 minutes, he had two shots — on on goal — and created a chance for his team to score. However, it took an own goal from the away team for them to get on the board and split the points at 1-1.
This week, Osasuna hosted Mallorca and Zaragoza got the start and played the full 90 minutes on the left week. Same as last week, he had two shots, but neither were on target. He also created a chance. Osasuna won 1-0.
Osasuna will travel to take on Girona on Thursday and then host Celta Viga on Sunday — both in league play.
Austria – Bundesliga
Lovro Zvonarek is the only player from the first team on loan to the Austrian Bundesliga.
Lovro Zvonarek – Sturm Graz
Sturm Graz has been playing competitive matches in Austria since the end of July. Zvonarek has appeared in all five competitive matches — including a cup win and four league matches. He has three starts in the those five, but has not played a full match, nor does he have a goal nor an assist so far this season. After the first round cup win, the reigning Austrian Bundesliga and Austrian Cup champions dropped their first league match, but have since won three straight in the league.
Sturm Graz will face Ried on the road in the second round of the Austrian Cup. They will be right back home in league play on Saturday against WSG Tirol.
Germany – 2. Bundesliga
Maurice Krattenmacher is the only player from the first team on loan to the 2. Bundesliga
Maurice Krattenmacher – SSV Ulm 1846
After winning the 3. Liga last season, Ulm is having a hard time at the next level. Krattenmacher has appeared in all four matches, but all four have been losses — including the DFB-Pokal loss to his parent club, FC Bayern. In that match, he had two shots — both off target — and two chances created.
Ulm will look for their first points at Paderborn on Sunday.
Germany – 3. Liga
Gibson Nana Adu is the only player on loan from the first team in the 3. Liga.
Gibson Nana Adu – Unterhaching
FC Bayern Munich II
There are eight players on loan from the second team.
Germany – 2. Bundesliga
Hyun-ju Lee is the only player from the second team loaned out to the 2. Bundesliga
Hyun-ju Lee – Hannover 96
Lee transferred to Hannover after Wiesbaden were relegated to the 3. Liga last season. He struggled to get any playing time in the first matches — an unused substitute in two league matches and last week’s upset in the DFB-Pokal against Bielefeld. He finally got minutes this week when he started and played 72 minutes. In that time he had a shot on goal and completed 86% of his passes. Hannover beat HSV 1-0.
Hannover will travel to face Fortuna Düsseldorf on Friday.
Germany – 3. Liga
Max Scholze is the only player from the second team on loan to the 3. Liga
Max Scholze – SC Verl
Scholze has been loaned out to Verl in the 3. Liga, but has an injury that is likely to keep him out for another month or so. He has not been available for Verl’s first three matches — all three of which they have drawn.
Verl will travel to face Hannover 96 II on Sunday.
Germany – Regionalliga
There are three players Regionalliga teams: Lukas Schneller in Regionalliga Bayern and Luka Parkadge and Robert Deziel Jr in Regionalliga Nordost
Lukas Schneller – Schweinfurt 05
Schneller had trouble getting playing time Freiburg II last season, but has taken over as starting keeper for Schweinfurt 05, who oddly enough are Bayern II’s direct opponents in the Regionalliga Bayern. He has led Schweinfurt to seven wins in eight matches across all competitions — including two wins in the Bavarian Pokal.
Schweinfurt will be on the road to league leaders, FV Illertissen, on Friday.
Luka Parkadge – Altglienicke
Parkadge has not yet appeared in the matchday squad through five league matches for Altglienicke. This was very common for him last season in Austria.
Robert Deziel Jr – Altglienicke
Deziel has appeared in each of Altglienicke’s league matches this season — starting four and coming off the bench twice. He has yet to score or record an assist. Altglienicke sits on four points so far in the Regionalliga Nordost with just one win and one draw.
Altglienicke will travel to face Zwickau on Friday.
Austria – Bundesliga
Matteo Pérez Vinlöf is the only player on loan to the Austrian Bundesliga from the second team.
Matteo Pérez Vinlöf – Austria Wien
Vinlöf and Austria Wien have been playing competitive matches since July when they lost they went out of UEFA Conference League qualifiers in penalties after two legs. He came off the bench in the first leg, but has started every match since then, including the second leg, the first round of the Austrian Cup, and four league matches. He had an assist and a penalty goal in the shootout in that second leg, but has not been on the scoresheet since. Austria Wien advanced in the Cup against FC Pinzgau Saalfelden and have started their league campaign with two wins, a draw, and a loss.
Austria – 2. Liga
Tom Hülsmann is the only player on loan to the Austrian 2. Liga from the second team
Tom Hülsmann – SKN St. Pölten
Hülsmann is another keeper on loan from Bayern. He started the cup match for St. Pölten and the first three league matches. They won the cup match, but have a loss and two draws in the league. He received a red card in the third match, but his team was still able to come back from a man down to draw 1-1. He was suspended for the match this week, in which his team got two more red cards and lost 2-0 against Kapfenberg.
St Pölten will face SW Bregenz in the second round of the Austrian Cup on Tuesday. They also face First Vienna on Friday in league play.
Portugal – Liga Potugal
Taichi Fukui is the only player on loan in Liga Portugal.
Taichi Fukui – FC Arouca
Fukui moved from one Portuguese team after Portimonese was relegated last season. He has started all three league matches for Arouca in this new season, playing all but one minute so far. Unfortunately, they only have only won one game after losing the first two.
Arouca will face Rio Ave on Sunday.
FC Bayern Frauen
There are five players on loan from FC Bayern’s Frauen team.
Germany — Frauen-Bundesliga
Karólína Lea Vilhjálmsdóttir is the only player on loan in the Frauen-Bundesliga.
Karólína Lea Vilhjálmsdóttir – Bayern 04 Leverkusen
The Frauen-Bundesliga will kick off next week! Leverkusen will start their campaign on the road to SC Freiburg.
England – Women’s Super League

Natalia Padilla – FC Sevilla
Sevilla will start their season with a home game on September 7 against Real Sociedad.
Sweden – Damallsvenskan
Momoko Tanikawa is the only player on loan to the Damallsvenskan.
Momoko Tanikawa – FC Rosengård
There has been no official announcement, but there is a chance that Tanikawa is no longer on loan to Rosengård, as she has not appeared for the team since the Olympics, though the team has played all through the summer. We will continue to monitor the situation.
Italy – Serie A
Cecilía Rán Rúnarsdóttir is the only player on loan to Serie A
Cecilía Rán Rúnarsdóttir – Inter Milan
Inter will start their campaign on Friday with a home match against UC Sampdoria.
