Manchester City may not sign FC Copenhagen’s Orri Oskarsson or Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi before the transfer window closes, according to The Athletic reporter Sam Lee.
The journalist responded to his colleague David Ornstein’s report that the Cityzens are interested in Oskarsson by saying:
So this’ll be the other, younger option, in addition in Kyogo. As David says here, City are unlikely to pursue it and, last I heard, Guardiola was doubting whether they need another striker after all! But Txiki found these two https://t.co/Sb5OTHZTTs

When prompted whether that meant that City were more likely to go after Kyogo, Lee replied:
Doesn’t sound like either will happen at this point

City don’t need to splash the cash on Haaland’s backup
From the sound of things, it does appear as if City could have no understudy for No.9 Erling Haaland in the first half of the season.
Many fans would see this as a big mistake, especially when you consider that neither Oskarsson nor Kyogo would cost a lot to sign. The former is said to be available for €20m (£17m) while the latter could be sold by Celtic for around £20m.
Will City be active ahead of the transfer deadline?
Based on Lee’s remarks, it doesn’t look like any signings will be made, but there could be one or two departures. Matheus Nunes is not part of the club’s first-team plans and he could even be loaned out.
Despite costing the Premier League champions £53m, the Portuguese international has struggled to hold down a starting spot during his first twelve months at the Etihad Stadium. A move to Spain is a possibility, with Atletico Madrid believed to be considering an approach for the player.
