Jadon Sancho’s future is likely to remain in the balance right up until Friday’s transfer deadline.
Manchester United are willing to offload Sancho, who has been left out of the squad for the first two Premier League games of the season despite making peace with Erik ten Hag.
But the Red Devils are currently demanding at least a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
talkSPORT understands Juventus have been the most serious suitors for the England international, but a move to Turin is far from guaranteed.
Chelsea are monitoring developments, however any move to Stamford Bridge would hinge on Sancho taking a pay cut and United being willing to sign one of the Blues’ unwanted players such as £300,000-a-week Raheem Sterling.
Bayern Munich and Sancho’s old club Borussia Dortmund are other potential suitors.
Go-ing nowhere
Joe Gomez could be set to stay at Liverpool after all.
As previously reported, Gomez was considering his options after being left out of the squad for Arne Slot’s first game in charge at Ipswich on the opening weekend of the season.
Aston Villa were among the clubs tracking Gomez, but boss Slot is keen to keep hold of the versatile England international after naming him on the bench for Sunday’s 2-0 win over Brentford on the Dutchman’s competitive Anfield bow.
With Liverpool’s focus in the final days of the window on a potential cut-price deal for Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa and not on adding a defender, it seems unlikely the Reds would sanction Gomez’s departure after selling Sepp van den Berg to Brentford for £25million.
If he stays, Gomez is likely to re-evaluate his position come January depending on how much game-time he gets between now and then.
Hammer blow
West Ham are open to offers for James Ward-Prowse little over a year after paying £30m to buy him from Southampton.
Ward-Prowse played just 16 minutes off the bench of the Hammers’ 2-1 opening day defeat at home to Aston Villa did not feature in Saturday’s 2-0 London derby win at Crystal Palace.
The 11-cap England international will fall even further down the pecking order if West Ham can agree a deal for PSG midfielder Carlos Soler.
talkSPORT understands Ward-Prowse’s advisers have been actively contacting other Premier League clubs to try and generate interest in the 29-year-old.
Ward-Prowse had spent his entire career at Saints before leaving when they were relegated to the Championship.
Chamber of Secrets
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is willing to take a pay cut to return to the Premier League from Besiktas.
Things have turned sour for ex-England and Liverpool midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has been told he will not be one of the 12 foreign players Besiktas are allowed to name in their squad for this season.
The 31-year-old has been offered to a number of English clubs including Brentford and Crystal Palace.
The ‘Ox’ has played just 20 league games since joining Besiktas on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.
