By this time last season, Leroy Sané had already started three matches and scored a brace for Bayern Munich. He has only scored one goal since October due to a nagging groin injury that significantly hampered his Rückrunde and EURO 2024 performances.
Following EURO 2024, Sane skipped Bayern’s preseason tour and underwent surgery. It was clear that Sané’s play was lacking and a complete fix was the proper solution.
According to Sky Sport’s Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann spoke with Sané and “decided not to call Leroy Sané up for the upcoming Nations League games. Sané is back in full training with Bayern and is theoretically fit to play, but will use the international break instead to get to full fitness.”
After a summer of transfer speculation, Sané’s focused commitment to Bayern Munich is a positive sign that his main priority is to attack the Bundesliga with full force and help Vincent Kompany’s squad recapture the league title.
