Training Report: Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano don’t train with team; Kingsley Coman works out like normal; Leon Goretzka at center-back, Jamal Musiala sitting deeper; Mathys Tel leaves training after Sacha Boey challenge; and MORE!

Fans already fretting the status of Bayern Munich’s backline probably got a little anxious earlier today when reports started to break that neither Kim Min-jae, nor Dayot Upamecano were present at the team’s training session.

After the Bundesliga opener where neither Min-jae nor Upamecano were really all that solid individually (as a pairing, the duo was subpar as well), losing both players still would have been a punch to the gut to fans already reeling and eager to see the players improve:

However, there was a reason. First, Min-jae was training individually:

Later, Sky Sport journalist Kerry Hau said that Upamecano was held out of practice due to load management:

Four days before the home game against SC Freiburg, central defenders Dayot Upamecano and Minjae Kim are missing from FC Bayern’s team training. The reason: load management. They are not injured, but are working individually – Kim on the adjacent pitch, Upamecano indoors.

So, there you have it — there is no reason to hit the panic button already this season, but clearly, the health of the center-back duo will remain to be key at a position where there is very little organizational depth ready for first team football at the moment.

Business as usual for Coman

Even with all of transfer rumors swirling around him, Kingsley Coman was a participant:

Kingsley Coman takes part in the public team training at FC Bayern. Whether the move to Al-Hilal works out depends entirely on him. The transfer window in Saudi Arabia does not close until September 2nd.

Tel limps out of training early after foul by Boey

Mathys Tel’s status for Sunday could suddenly be in doubt after sustaining a foul by Sacha Boey in training:

After an unfortunate foul by Sacha Boey in the final game, Mathys Tel had to abandon training at FC Bayern a few minutes before the end and left the pitch limping.

Irankunda takes a hit

The hits did, indeed, keep on coming as youngster Nestory Irankunda also went down and left the pitch on a golf cart:

Next injury – right at the end of Bayern training: Youngster Nestory Irankunda screams loudly after a tough tackle, remains lying on the ground and then even has to be driven off the pitch in a golf cart.

Luckily, Irankunda seems okay:

Good news from Säbener Straße: Nestory Irankunda has not sustained a serious injury and has just left the training ground on foot with the other youth players. João Palhinha stepped on the ankle of the new signing from Australia in a tackle. A painful moment of shock – but nothing more!
