It’s official! Bayern Munich know who their opponents will be in the new Champions League group stage format. They will eight other teams in eight games (four at home, four away) which includes a number of classic (some might say overdone) matchups.
Here is a full breakdown of the draw:
- Pot 1 (home) — Paris Saint-Germain
- Pot 1 (away) — FC Barcelona
- Pot 2 (home) — Benfica
- Pot 2 (away) — Shakhtar Donetsk
- Pot 3 (home) — Dinamo Zagreb
- Pot 3 (away) — Feyenoord Rotterdam
- Pot 4 (home) — Slovan Bratislava
- Pot 4 (away) — Aston Villa
That while that is the whole fixture list, it’s not what the final schedule will look like. The final schedule will be revealed by UEFA shortly, we’ll update it as soon as it is available.
The big names in the draw are certainly the game against PSG and FC Barcelona. The reunion with Hansi Flick was practically written in the stars — sadly, he won’t be making a return to the Allianz Arena to do so. If you’re curious about how Barca and Bayern stack up at the moment, we actually did a breakdown (before we even knew about this draw!) in a recent podcast episode, which you can listen to below or on Spotify.
