With the release of its latest call-up list, the German national team made very few changes.
In fact, that was the goal per former Bayern Munich manager and current Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann.
“In general, we were very satisfied with how each player fulfilled his role at the EUROs. That’s why we now want to give the Euros squad the chance to present themselves again in the first games after the tournament. The only newcomer is Angelo Stiller, who performed very well in Stuttgart last season and again this season. In midfield, we have to replace two players, İlkay Gündoğan and Toni Kroos, who have retired. Overall, that’s enough changes in the national team for the moment,” Nagelsmann said in a release to the DFB (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
This will be a period of transition for the German nation team as it seeks to reload after the retirements of Kroos, Gündoğan, Thomas Müller, and Manuel Neuer. For Stiller and many of the other younger players on the roster, this is a golden opportunity to make a name for themselves and establish the next generation of the German national team.
