Two games, two goals.
After scoring in the 66th minute in Heidenheim’s 2-0 win over FC St. Pauli in the Bundesliga opener last Sunday, Bayern Munich youngster Paul Wanner played hero again in the second leg of a Europa Conference League play-off tie vs Swedish club Häcken.
Häcken were up 2-1, and tied 3-3 on aggregate when Wanner scored in the 84th minute. The 18-year old pounced on a loose pass as Häcken tried to reclaim possession, then collected a layoff from a teammate before carving out an inch of space in the box and smashing home.
Not content with that, Wanner also assisted the final goal of the game — driving forward under pressure in the second minute of stoppage time and playing in Mathias Honsak, whose golazo was even more impressive.
The youngster is stuck in an attacking logjam on Bayern’s roster, with Thomas Müller and Jamal Musiala occupying the No. 10 position and a potential blockbuster transfer move for Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz on the horizon. But at Heidenheim, he is blossoming — and picking up some high-level experience on the way.
