Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho hit back at a critic on social media before promptly deleting the post.
The Argentina forward made his first start of the Premier League season in the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.
After the defeat, one Red Devils supporter on X, formerly known as Twitter, posted a two-minute video compiling Garnacho’s worst moments of the season so far.
Responding to the post, Garnacho wrote: “Wasting your time making clips for me – your life so far [laughing emoji and fire emoji].”
The social media user, who uses the handle @sulkfemomeno, clapped back at the footballer with a retort of his own.
They wrote: “Focus on your first touch and dribbling you bum. If you weren’t so bad I wouldn’t have any footage to post [thumbs up emoji].”
Garnacho’s original post has since been deleted.
The 20-year-old, who has one assist from United’s opening three games, found himself in hot water due to his social media activity last season.
Garancho ‘liked’ a number of posts criticising manager Erik ten Hag after being substituted during a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth in April.
Ten Hag later revealed the young forward apologised for his behaviour.
“Alejandro is a young player and has to learn a lot,” Ten Hag said.
“He apologised for it and after that, we move on.”
Despite a slow start to the 2024/25 campaign, Garnacho was among United’s most important players last season.
He featured in all-but two Premier League games, registering seven goals and four assists.
Garnacho was replaced by Amad Diallo during the second-half of the hammering against Liverpool and the decision was met with loud boos from the Old Trafford faithful.
Explaining the decision to withdraw Garnacho and leave Marcus Rashford on the pitch, Ten Hag said: “First of all, Marcus created two great chances for Zirkzee.
“In the second place, it was Garnacho’s first start and Zirkzee’s first start.
“We know Rashy can play centre-forward and one of the ideas was to bring off Zirkzee and Garnacho and leaving Rashford on.
“He created two very good chances. I know if he keeps working, keeps fighting like he is now, it will come and he will score goals.”
