Chelsea have enquired about Getafe midfielder Christantus Uche and are believed to be watching the Nigerian closely according to reports.
The Blues were active in the summer and made a number of new signings with Pedro Neto, Jadon Sancho and Joao Felix the most high profile arrivals.
It’s not long since the window closed, but with January edging closer rumours are starting to circulate about players Chelsea might be looking to sign.
Chelsea enquire about Getafe midfielder Uche
According to Spanish outlet Relevo the Blues have enquired about Getafe’s Uche and are believed to be keeping a close eye on him.
The 21-year-old arrived at Getafe for €500,000 in the summer from Spanish third tier side Ceuta and penned a four year deal with the La Liga outfit.
According to the report Uche has been one of the stars of La Liga this season and because of his speed and strength they say he would suit the Premier League and a team like Chelsea.
However, Relevo add that the Nigerian is happy and at this point is only thinking about Getafe, who have endured a difficult start to the season.
Chelsea are blessed for options in midfield and quite what they would do with Uche and where he would play is unclear.
The club have Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez who are their main midfield options and displacing any of them for regular minutes is a tough task.
They also have youngsters Lesley Ugochukwu and Andrey Santos out on loan at Southampton and Strasbourg respectively.
The Blues have high hopes for the pair, particularly Santos, who Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior recently praised for his maturity.
Whether Chelsea decide to move for Uche or not remains unclear, but what is clear is strengthening in midfield isn’t a priority, with a centre back and goalkeeper far more important additions to the squad and Jamie Carragher believes the Blues need a new keeper if they want to challenge for the title.
