It has been widely expected that Bayern Munich star Leroy Sané would be in-line to sign a contract extension during this season. However, something might be…off.
Sané’s salary requirements might be too much for Bayern Munich to stomach when other internal moves (Joshua Kimmich, Jamal Musiala) and potential transfers (like Florian Wirtz) are expected to put a big dent into the club’s salary budget:
Bayern are currently hesitating when it comes to contract talks with Leroy Sané. The reason is his big salary (up to €20m per year). At least one of the big earning wingers (Sané, Coman, Gnabry) is still expected to leave the club. From now on, the club would only pay salaries in the €20m region to players who consistently deliver top performances and are undisputed starters – which raises the question about Sané from Bayern’s point of view.
Aside of Sané’s salary, the German’s performances during his tenure at Bayern Munich might also be giving the club some hesitance. Right now, the winger appears to be heating up, but his time in Bavaria has been defined by his peaks and valleys. If something does not work out, both Arsenal FC and Manchester United could be potential destinations:
Bayern want to see consistent performances from Sané. Nevertheless, the people in charge have clearly noticed that Sané now fully identifies with the club and the team and is giving it his all. Last season in spring, he kept going despite his recurring groin problems and played with injections in important games, which cost him at the EUROs, where he wasn’t fully fit and had surgery afterwards
Sané himself can well imagine staying at Bayern, but he also does not want to wait until the last moment for clarity over his future since he will be a free agent next summer and is in big demand. Arsenal and Manchester United have him on their list.
It still feels like a deal will get done to keep Sané, but that could swing one direction or the other depending on how the next ew months go. It does not seem like Sané wants to let the situation sit until the summer.
Liverpool FC could be taking a close look at Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni:
– Liverpool will consider a move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni in the January transfer window, TEAMtalk reports. Tchouaméni is a player that coach Arne Slot likes and the club could be convinced to sanction signing the France international. Tchouameni, 24, has been a first-team regular for Real Madrid but the reigning European champions might be willing to part with him for a fee of around £100 million which would allow them to replenish their squad.

Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies was named to the Champions League team of the Week for his performance against Benfica:
Per Diario Sport, FC Barcelona is now eager to pick up the option year of Robert Lewandowski, who might be willing to take a paycut to stay on:
Barcelona are certain to trigger the extra year in Robert Lewandowski’s contract. The player is also willing to discuss lowering his salary in return for a fifth year, to cover the 2026-27 campaign, though there is no rush to find an agreement.
Bayern Munich is in the midst of a scorching hot stretch and Harry Kane has been a big part of the team’s success.
So why is Bayern Munich already seeking another striker when Kane’s deal does not end until 2027? Apparently, the planning has begun and there are a lot of options under consideration…but who will be the ultimate selection? That is a big question and we’ll discuss it.

Per a report from The Sun, ousted Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag never wanted to bring in former Bayern Munich prospect Joshua Zirkzee:
– Sacked Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag didn’t want to sign Joshua Zirkzee in the summer, with the £36.5m move instigated by INEOS’ new management team — who identified the 23-year-old as good value for money.
Zirkzee’s acquisition did seem a little odd, but it could have had more to do with Manchester United’s frustration with Rasmus Højlund, who has not really asserted himself with the club.
Now, the Red Devils have two strikers that it could conceivably view as underachievers on its roster.
