Tottenham Hotspur young starlet Archie Gray had been at the forefront of marquee arrivals at White Hart Lane in the recently concluded summer transfer window, where Daniel Levy forked out £40m to land his services. Many were surprised to see the North Londoners spending such a hefty sum to sign a teenager with only one senior campaign under his belt.
Archie Gray is a versatile profile who is capable of featuring along the midfield as well as in the full-back role. His not only versatility brings to the table but also brings a grind difficult to match on the pitch, something that Ange Postecoglou would love in his squad.
However, despite all his highly touted potential, the teenager hasn’t been able to get any consistent minutes under his belt at Hotspur Way. And with a lack of opportunities under his belt, Gray has been subject to links with a move away from Spurs in the upcoming winter transfer window, with multiple clubs vying for his signatures for a possible loan transfer this season.
Leeds’ pursuit of Gray – A hopeless cause?
Within the list of probable suitors, Leeds United have also expressed interest in landing Elland Road Academy graduate; however, the Whites are said to have “absolutely no chance” in pursuit of the teenager, per Football Insider. And former Tottenham and Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson insist that that Gray is “exactly on track” at Hotspur Way at the moment.
While Gray would love to go back to a familiar environment to accommodate some minutes under his belt, there is also a general awareness that staying with his current employers and continuing to develop under Postecoglou’s guidance could be more beneficial in the long run.
