This past summer, Paris Saint-Germain showed interest in Nottingham Forest defender Murillo as they looked to strengthen their center-back options.
Ultimately, PSG decided to sign Willian Pacho, who has quickly made an impact at the club. Still, central defense remains an area that could be improved, whether in January or next summer.
Murillo was instrumental in helping Nottingham Forest avoid relegation from the Premier League last season, proving his talent. If he continues to progress this season, it’s likely that top clubs like PSG will be keeping an eye on him.
While Marquinhos remains a key figure in PSG’s defense, the situation around him is less certain. Lucas Beraldo is still adapting, Lucas Hernandez is recovering from a serious injury, and Milan Skriniar seems to be out of favor with Luis Enrique, which could lead to changes in January.
A new suitor joins the transfer race for Murillo
Gary Lineker has said that Liverpool are targeting Nottingham Forest defender Murillo ahead of the January transfer window.
“I understand they’re after Murillo from [Nottingham] Forest,” Lineker said. Afterward, Alan Shearer replied: “Those two at Forest [Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic] have done really well this season, that’s one of the reasons they’re flying high in the Premier League.”
Football Insider reported last month that Chelsea would have to pay a ‘huge fee’ to convince Nottingham Forest to sell Murillo. Moreover, the report revealed that despite the Blues’ interest, Forest are in no rush to part with the 22-year-old after his impressive start to the season.
