Rumors of Bayern Munich’s interest in a post-Harry Kane plan for striker have been swirling for about a week, but the genesis of the rumors is — allegedly — that the club is not feeling great about the development of Mathys Tel:
One of the reasons Bayern are already exploring the market for a long-term Harry Kane successor is that the development of Mathys Tel has stalled. That’s why a loan move for Tel in January is a realistic option.
The primary issue with Tel is that it is hard to figure out if he best fits as a striker, a winger, or something in-between, like a wide-forward. In reality, his best position might be as a part of a two-striker system, but it would seem doubtful that Bayern Munich would shift to that kind of alignment any time soon.
So…then what?
It seems like both parties are open to Tel going out on loan, which would serve two purposes:
- It would give Tel the necessary game time to continue his development.
- It would buy the Bavarians some time to figure out how they really feel about Tel and what position they see him playing in the long-term.
Clearly, Tel is part of the mix for consideration for what happens after Kane, but he is just a small piece of that puzzle.
Liverpool FC could be making a play to bring in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush to replace Mo Salah:
Liverpool are eyeing Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Marmoush is reportedly on the radar of Bayern Munich, but Liverpool might be a very appealing option for him.
Bayern Munich will ease into the break on a nice, little run of wins, so what better time to sit back and assess how things look at this stage.
There has been a lot of good, some bad, but a lot to discuss, so let’s get right to it on this edition of Bavarian Podcast Works. This is what we have on tap:
- Final thoughts on Bayern Munich vs. St. Pauli
- How should we feel about Bayern Munich to this point in the season?
- Has Jamal Musiala made the leap?
- Germany released its latest roster, so let’s dive into what this squad will look like for this week’s matches.
At one point, Tom Bischof was one of the most heralded, young talents in all of Germany. Even Bayern Munich was kicking the tires on what it might take to get him.
While not a bust by any means, Bischof’s development progress has slowed a bit and with Hoffenheim under-performing regularly, it might be the time for him to look to move on:
The future of Tom #Bischof at TSG Hoffenheim remains uncertain, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
TSG is eager to extend his deal, but many Bundesliga clubs are closely monitoring the 19y/o midfielder.
Eintracht Frankfurt has also shown interest, as… pic.twitter.com/IzQFWrTaXl

TSG is eager to extend his deal, but many Bundesliga clubs are closely monitoring the 19y/o midfielder.
Eintracht Frankfurt has also shown interest, as reported by Bild. However, #SGE has yet to make a final decision on whether to enter negotiations. Bischof has recently been nominated for the German U21 team for the first time.
Bischof would definitely pique the interest of quite a few German teams, but Bayern Munich is likely out of the running at this point.
Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. might really be considering a jump to Saudi Arabia:
A move to the Saudi Pro League for Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior is not completely off the table, Marca reports. In an article titled “Vinícius’ maze, and his future at Real Madrid” the Spanish sport daily says that a behind-the-scenes discussion before last Monday’s Ballon d’Or ceremony, which Madrid boycotted once they discovered that Manchester City’s Rodri would be announced as the winner, “left everything up in the air, with Arabia on the prowl.” The story adds: “A recent talk surprised someone with a lot of authority within the club, in which the Brazilian weighed up sporting and financial aspects.”
Bayern Munich faced recently promoted FC St Pauli in a game everyone thought Bayern would run off with. But that wasn’t exactly the case. St Pauli put up an incredible performance against Der Rekordmeister tonight, with a rock solid defense and a creative offense (something Bayern lacked) that they used to hold their own. After a hard fought game like tonight’s, there’s bound to be loads to analyze.
So let’s get right into it on this edition of our postgame show:
- A quick review of what was different tonight, and what it meant for the rest of the game
- A (mostly) critical analysis of Bayern’s midfield and offense, and why Leon Goretzka doesn’t start anymore
- FC St. Pauli’s surprisingly solid performance today on the big stage
- Jamal Musiala is Vincent Kompany’s machine
- Can Bayern do better than this?
Arsenal FC is one of the clubs taking a close look at Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson:
Arsenal are among the clubs showing a strong interest in the potential transfer of Eintracht Frankfurt wonderkid Hugo Larsson.
The talented 20-year-old looks like one of the most exciting prospects in Europe at the moment, and sources with a close understanding of his situation have informed CaughtOffside that Arsenal are considering testing the waters with a €40million bid for the player in January.
Liverpool and Tottenham are also very interested in Larsson and CaughtOffside understands they could also try initiating talks over the Sweden international this winter, while other big names such as Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have also been monitoring him.
Larsson will clearly have his pick of some big names if he is to leave Frankfurt, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up if he does move.
Per a report from Corriere dello Sport, former Bayern Munich star Mats Hummels was said to have been considering a move away from AS Roma:
Ex-Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels could return to Germany in January after a disappointing start to the season with Roma. The 35-year-old defender has been in Italy for just a few months, but has found game time hard to come by under Ivan Jurić.
A funny thing happened on the way to that potential transfer wish, though. Jurić was let go (per ASRoma.com):
We would like to thank Ivan Juric for his hard work these past weeks.
He handled a difficult environment with the utmost professionalism, and for that we are grateful. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
The search for a new head coach has already begun and we expect an announcement in the coming days.
Bayern Munich is in the midst of a scorching hot stretch and Harry Kane has been a big part of the team’s success.
So why is Bayern Munich already seeking another striker when Kane’s deal does not end until 2027? Apparently, the planning has begun and there are a lot of options under consideration…but who will be the ultimate selection? That is a big question and we’ll discuss it.
- What should we make of the striker update?
- A #Project2026 update.
- Wingers are at the forefront of our discussion once again.
- An Entertainment Rundown — The Penguin dropped its penultimate episode and we learned a lot about ol’ Oz Cobb.
