This past summer, Paris Saint-Germain explored several options to boost their attack for the 2024-25 season, with Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán among those on their radar.
According to Eduardo Burgos of Diario AS, both Bayern Munich and PSG made offers for Durán during the summer transfer window, but Aston Villa rejected them. Manager Unai Emery sees the young forward as a future star.
However, PSG and Bayern Munich aren’t the only clubs interested in Durán. A recent report from Fichajes suggests that Arsenal and Barcelona are also monitoring the Colombian as the 2025 transfer windows approach.
PSG urged to pursue Jhon Durán to solve No. 9 issues
The Parisians have struggled to find the back of the net in key moments, as shown in their UEFA Champions League matches. While they can score in Ligue 1, they’ve had difficulty finishing chances on the international stage.
In his latest column for PSG Talk Extra Time, Robin Bairner of Football Transfers believes Durán would be the ideal No. 9 for manager Luis Enrique.
“Aston Villa striker Jhon Durán is an interesting possibility,” Bairner wrote. “He has been tentatively linked with a move to the City of Lights following an explosive start to the season with Unai Emery’s side. Durán, though, has primarily been cast as super sub at Villa behind Ollie Watkins.
“The Premier League side is adamant that they will not sell a player they bought from Chicago Fire for €16.6m just over a year ago, but he ticks many boxes for PSG. He’s strong, fast and exciting. He can also finish. Duran posts a net xG of 1.6 in the Premier League this season, putting him seventh among players with four or more goals.”
