Whilst a transfer move for Paul Pogba has been dismissed by Irons sources today, West Ham’s sights may be set on Sunderland’s 19-year-old midfield star, Jobe Bellingham.
The Hammers face stiff competition for Bellingham, with Crystal Palace, Marseille, and RB Leipzig all showing interest. However, West Ham’s good historical relationship with Sunderland, following deals for Pierre Ekwah and Aji Alese, could give us the edge.
Bellingham, who has shone since his move to Sunderland, has become a key player under Regis Le Bris. Despite limited goal contributions this season, he has delivered pivotal goals in victories over Derby County and Oxford United.
As the younger brother of Real Madrid and England’s Jude Bellingham, Jobe carries high expectations and continually receives rave reports although one does wonder how much is media bias due to his famous older sibling. Renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has reported that the player is open to a move, making him one of the most-watched young talents in the Championship.
Youth, quality and energy have been a massive issue for the Hammers this season and Bellingham would certainly provide those missing parts to a misfiring midfield. However, Eagles owner Steve Parish is believed to be serious about bringing the youngster in with some news outlets describing the transfer chase as a straight shoot-out between West Ham & Palace.
