According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola could be plotting an offensive to get one of his old charges — Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich.
Interestingly, Guardiola would also love to have Jamal Musiala, but realizes that getting the young attacker is a much more complicated situation than Kimmich, who will be a free agent in the summer:
After Pep Guardiola’s renewal, Manchester City will be looking to strengthen their midfield next summer and potentially look to replace Ilkay Gündogan and Kevin De Bruyne. Guardiola loves Jamal Musiala, but that’s very unlikely as Musiala is leaning towards a contract extension at Bayern. A potential move for Joshua Kimmich is more realistic. If no agreement with Bayern is reached, a Premier League [or La Liga] move would be an option. Guardiola and Kimmich are maintaining contact and still have a good relationship.
Kimmich is rumored to not want to have to take a paycut this summer — which is something that likely would not be a problem for Manchester City, but could be an issue for Bayern Munich if the club wants to maintain a hardline on its salary budget.
