Seemingly out of nowhere, Paul Pogba has been linked with a shock move to West Ham United.
Paul Pogba left Manchester United to join Juventus on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
However, there have been whispers that West Ham could well be the 31-year-old’s next destination.
Pogba was handed a four-year drugs ban back in February of this year, after testing positive for dehydroepiandrosterone,
However, it was recently reduced to just 18 months, meaning that he can return to action in March 2025.
He won’t be playing for Juventus though, with the Turin giants keen to release him from his contract.
So could the Hammers really try to bring him to the London Stadium?
Big Paul Pogba claim amidst West Ham links
The former Manchester United man will not be 32 until March, so he has plenty of football left ahead of him, if he keeps himself in good shape of course.
Could he be set for a shock switch to West Ham in January though?
Hammers insider Sean Whetstone has opened up on the chances of Pogba moving to the London Stadium.
Whetstone suggests that the chances of West Ham signing Pogba are ‘slim to none’.
The 31-year-old is allegedly demanding wages in excess of £160k-a-week, as Juventus prepare to release him from his contract.
That’s an awful lot of money, but not necessarily extortionate demands in the current climate.
I think he’ll prove to be a bargain for whichever club wins the race for his signature, albeit somewhat of a risk.
On his day, Paul Pogba was arguably the best and most complete central midfielder in the game, and he definitely would be able to add something to the current West Ham setup.
As Whetstone rightly claimed above though, it’s looking highly unlikely that he will be swapping Turin for East London anytime soon.
