According to a report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich executive is not relenting on his desire to sell Leon Goretzka in January or next summer — regardless of whether or not the player wants to stay and fight for his position:
Max Eberl has once again made it clear in recent days, that Leon #Goretzka has no future at FC Bayern and should ideally leave the club by the summer of 2025 at the latest. Contract until 2026.
Bayern are already open to a loan with an obligation to buy in the winter.
Goretzka has received this message. He is fully focused on Bayern and is giving his all to successfully replace João Palhinha. Nevertheless, and this is new, preparations for a departure in the summer are now underway.
The sale of Goretzka would not just be about clearing space in the midfield, though, per Plettenberg. Bayern Munich would use the funds generated from a sale of Goretzka to help acquire Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz:
One reason why Leon #Goretzka is being considered for sale is Bayern’s urgent need for funds to complete the transfer of Florian #Wirtz.
At present, a move abroad to a top European club seems more likely for Goretzka than a transfer within the Bundesliga.
There are already interested clubs. Manchester United still have him on their radar, as exclusively revealed in our show. However, no price tag has been set yet. #MUFC
