Bayern Munich’s six game winning streak has been littered with midtable opponents who have failed to threaten Bayern’s control or backline. Those excuses for pundits will fly out the window as Bayern flies into another difficult stretch of the season.
After wearing down Augsburg in the grueling 3-0 Bundesliga match, Vincent Kompany expressed his excitement at the prospect of three huge matchups over eight days.
“We always want to play against the best teams,” said Kompany (via @iMiaSanMia). “PSG is a big game, then Dortmund is a classic. But the focus is always on the next game. It’s important to be fresh going into the PSG game. We managed to build up our confidence with today’s win.”
PSG is at the top of the Ligue One but currently in elimination territory in the Champions League. Dortmund has been crushing it in the Champions League but struggling with consistency in the Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen has been up and down all season but still has all of its talent (sans Josip Stanišić) available to defend the DFB-Pokal title.
