Wesley Fofana was the man chosen to step up and speak to the Chelsea TV cameras after a return to his old stomping ground at Leicester brought 3 points for Chelsea.
Fofana was really solid at the back, and even contributed to the opening goal – it was his clearance up the field to Nicolas Jackson which produced the defensive panic we eventually scored from.
His position changed a little today in the absence of Malo Gusto and Reece James. He was nominally a right back, although he was tucked in very narrow on his side while his opposite number Marc Cucurella pushed ahead more down the left.
He certainly looks a lot more comfortable in that role than Axel Disasi did earlier in the season when he was used in a similar way.
“Really, I don’t care if the manager puts me right back or centre back. I just play, I help the team, that’s the most important. I enjoy right back or centre back,” the defender explained.
“It’s now about recovery. We have a lot of games coming up, December and November is tough. We will recover and go again.”

Cool Fofana stops slip up – but late penalty will frustrate
As Fofana pointed out, it was a difficult match in difficult circumstances – the weather was bad, it was an early kick off, players were back late from international break, some dropped out at the last minute. It was all set up for a slip up, and it was in part thanks to very cool and calm defending from Wes at the back that that didn’t become a reality.
What will stick in the craw is the late, late penalty which denied Fofana and his teammates a clean sheet once again.
