Bayern Munich has reportedly been tracking a new striker in the next transfer window — Jonathan David. The interest in the LOSC Lille forward and Canadian international is apparently quite serious, but will Die Rekordmeister actually make a move for him?
According to the report from Christian Falk (captured by @iMiaSanMia), that depends:
Bayern are concretely interested in Jonathan David. Max Eberl thinks highly of the Canadian striker. But for that the club first has to find a solution for Mathys Tel. If the Frenchman leaves a loan, then Bayern could move for David — because it would be otherwise difficult to manage two players behind Harry Kane in the pecking order [@cfbayern via @caughtoffside]
The 24-year-old David is a little bit more seasoned at this stage of his career than the 19-year-old Tel. But Bayern needs to find a way to distribute strikers among its pecking order, and both young talents would really need to see some playing time to reach their full potential. If Tel does leave on loan, it would leave an opening behind Harry Kane that David could fill.
Would David be a good fit at Bayern? And if he does join, could fellow CanMNT star Alphonso Davies perhaps be the connection they need? Let us know what you think below!
