Lucas Paqueta has endured so much over the past year or so, with his off-field problems badly affecting his ability to perform for West Ham.
West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta has had a rough time of things of late.
The 27-year-old Hammers star has been hit with four separate charges pertaining to potential betting breaches, and he apparently faces a lifetime ban if found guilty.
His time at the London Stadium will end up being very short-lived if that happens.
On his day, the Brazilian is crucial to the way that the Hammers play.
However, it has been impossible for him to perform anywhere near his best this season.
So does he actually have a future at the London Stadium?
West Ham have made major Lucas Paqueta U-turn
The Brazilian is a mercurial talent.
However, we haven’t seen him anywhere near his best so far this season.
West Ham need Paqueta to rediscover his best form, if we are to achieve a successful 2024/25 campaign on all fronts.
We got a glimpse of that on Monday night, with his terrific performance against Newcastle.
And it seems as though the board took note of the 27-year-old’s exceptional display.
Now though, according to a report from The Athletic, West Ham have made it clear that Paqueta is NOT FOR SALE.
That represents quite the turnaround from the Hammers.
It was only a few days ago when it was claimed that the West Ham owners were prepared to cut their losses on the Brazilian, and could sell him for just £25 million in January.
If Paqueta is found guilty of the charges levelled against him, he will be worth absolutely nothing.
So West Ham taking the stance that Lucas Paqueta is not for sale is quite a bold move really isn’t it.
However, if he’s cleared, it will look like a masterstroke from the Hammers board.
We will have to wait and see how it pans out, but I’m praying that the Brazilian gets fond not guilty.
When he’s on song, West Ham are a much better team as a result.
