Who knew Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting would stay at Bayern Munich for four years? Certainly, when the former Schalke 04 player was part of some last minute signings in the 2020 summer transfer window, nobody would have expected him to stay for so long, let alone become the actual starting striker for the team, let alone score 17 goals in the 2022/202 season. Despite the former Paris Saint Germain striker’s absurd form, however, Choupo-Moting was finally let go in the past summer to find pastures anew.
Though it has taken a while, the former Stoke City player has found those new pastures…at Red Bull, according to Florian Plettenberg:
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will join New York Red Bulls [in the MLS]. Medical done. All agreed and signed. 35 y/o striker will join the New York Red Bulls as a free agent. It will be at least a two-year contract, starting in January 2025.
At 35, America may be a good landing spot for Choupo-Moting. But at Red Bull? How disappointing…
