Arsenal are likely to target players for signings in four positions in 2025, according to a report, as the January transfer window edges nearer.
James McNicholas reports for The Athletic that Arsenal are looking at a number of positions ahead of the 2025 transfer windows.
In forward areas, Arsenal are looking at the potential addition of a new centre-forward, and they’re also open to adding a wide player. The Gunners are primarily concerned with providing cover and competition for Bukayo Saka, but they’re also open to an upgrade on the left.
Raheem Sterling is currently providing an option on both flanks, but he’s only on loan and there’s no option to buy in his deal. So Arsenal are free to look at alternatives without risking being stuck with too many players.
As for the other two positions Arsenal are likely to consider, McNicholas writes that the club acknowledge the midfielder needs “some rejuvenation”, given the relative ages of the current midfield compared to other positions.
Then the Gunners will also likely be looking at goalkeepers, with Neto only on loan and no experienced third-choice option in the squad.
Though on that note, it’s probably worth pointing out that Tommy Setford is gaining experience with the team this season, and Karl Hein is impressing on loan. If the right goalkeepers aren’t available, the Gunners could always look to fill the spot with internal promotions.
Whether Arsenal look to sign a striker, a winger, a midfielder, or a goalkeeper in the January window remains to be seen.
The Gunners have generally preferred to do business in the summer, so it would probably require a unique opportunity to present itself over the next couple of months.
