Estevao Willian has revealed he’s not phased about Chelsea signing a lot of players and is very happy with his decision to join the club.
The Blues agreed a deal with Palmeiras worth up to £51.4m for the 17-year-old in the summer and he will join up with his new team-mates after the Club World Cup in 2025.
The teenager is regarded as the biggest talent in South America and the Blues see it as a real coup they have been able to secure his signature.
Estevao very happy with decision to join Chelsea
A host of Europe’s top clubs were interested in the Brazilian, with it reported that Bayern Munich tried to hijack the deal at the last minute.
Estevao has already made his full debut for Brazil such is his talent and he’s widely regarded as the best Brazilian born player since Neymar.
He created history by becoming the first player under the age of 18 to register 20 goal contributions in a single Brazilian League season, whilst he also has ambitions to become the most successful Brazilian player in Chelsea’s history.
Estevao has shared how he’s already been in contact with Cole Palmer and Reece James and revealed how he’s very happy with his decision to join Chelsea despite the fact they have signed a lot of players.
“I’m very happy with my decision of going to Chelsea,” he said as cited on X.com.
“I’m sure that with my family and staff we made the right decision with the plans that they had. When I arrive there I will try to work to earn my place. Regardless of who is there, I want to start a healthy competition.”
Estevao is expected to go straight into the first team squad and compete for minutes with the likes of Palmer, Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho.
It’s important Chelsea don’t put too much pressure on him and just ease him in as it’s a big move at such a young age, but if the Blues can provide the right environment for Estevao to flourish then they could have a potential superstar on their hands.
