West Ham have been dealt a blow in their efforts to generate funds for the January transfer window.
The Hammers had planned to offload several fringe players to create space on the wage bill. However, Claret and Hugh have discovered in the past hour that attempts to move on midfielder Guido Rodríguez have hit a “brick wall.”
The news comes from a trusted source with excellent insight into the club’s transfer dealings. Despite multiple attempts to offload Rodríguez, there have been no takers.
The Argentinian World Cup winner is keen to leave West Ham, but hopes that a La Liga club would step in for him have been dashed. It is understood that while there was a tentative inquiry for the midfielder in October, nothing has materialised since.
As a result, new Irons manager Graham Potter is expected to include Rodríguez in his plans for the remainder of the season unless something drastic changes.
The former Real Betis and Club América player started West Ham’s last match against Fulham and, aside from some poor marking for the Cottagers’ second goal, delivered a solid performance.
