Manchester United earned an important three points with a 2-0 win over Wolves at Old Trafford on Saturday, with Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho scoring the goals.
Christian Eriksen started and after the game spoke to the official site about the importance of United winning all the remaining home games, with a place in next season’s Champions League secured with us claiming six points from the remaining nine on offer.
It’s definitely something that we need to do, first of all, finish the season strong with a perfect home record. But in the end, of course, for next season, we need to be as good as at home, but also away. And then it’s going to be a fun season. We know where we can pick up extra points, because at home, at the moment we’re feeling very, very secure.
Of course, when you lose two games, the extra pressure is on. But we’ve shown the character and the quality to be where we are. We’re just going to focus on us. For us, it has to be three wins in the last three games.
Having missed two and a half months of football, Garnacho made his return in the 81st minute, before scoring a fantastic goal to wrap up the points. Eriksen has spoken about the need for all players to chip in with the goals and the importance of Garnacho being back.
Everyone else is trying to dig in and help out and I think everyone on the pitch has had one or two shots today. And first of all, they had some very good saves from the Wolverhampton keeper,” Christian added. And for the rest, I think we have enough chances to score. It doesn’t really matter who scores, but it’s lovely to attack and score. It’s very good. And you can see the quality. He [Garnacho] will bring back the confidence of how he’s playing. And I’m pleased for him to be out for a while. And then come back and score. It’s the perfect return.
