Man United are seemingly trying to bring in Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer.
Manchester United need a huge summer transfer window as they look to close the gap on Manchester City at the top. The current club ownership status is clouding the next few months, though let’s hope money is available for the boss.
A new striker has to be the number one priority, though the club would also benefit from a new midfielder. The current back-up options have been far too inconsistent, leaving United to over-rely on the likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes.
The latest information from L’Equipe seems to believe United are pretty keen on signing one midfielder in particular; Adrien Rabiot.
According to their report, United are pushing to sign the 28-year-old on a free transfer this summer.
On top of that, the French player is deemed an ‘important’ Ten Hag target, with the United manager already holding exchanges with the player about a possible move.
The Frenchman has had an insane season for Juventus, proving himself as a top tier midfielder over the course of the campaign.
United’s interest in Rabiot is nothing new. Ten Hag tried to sign him last summer, though his wage demands proved too great. The club have also been linked with a Rabiot move before Ten Hag took charge.
In terms of direct upgrades, Rabiot would represent one. He’s better than Fred, Scott McTominay and Marcel Sabitzer. His acquisition would allow rest for the first-choice midfielders on a regular basis.
The wage concern still stands, though. If anything, Rabiot would demand even more money this summer as he’s had arguably his best season a pro footballer. I do not see United sanctioning in excess of £250,000-a-week to bring him in…
