Man United have eyes on Everton midfielder, Amadou Onana, should the Toffees get relegated this season.
Manchester United Football Club need a big summer transfer window, in order to continue to close the gap on Manchester City.
Erik ten Hag absolutely feels like the right guy to lead this Red Devils team back to their glory days, though he needs backing. With club ownership still up in the air, it certainly makes things tough.
Links to players are already coming in hot and over the weekend, United were linked with another midfielder; Amadou Onana.
It’s Football Insider with the claim. They state that Everton are ‘willing to sell’ the Belgium international if they’re relegated this summer.
United are said to be ‘interested’ in the signature of the 21-year-old midfielder, though they will not be alone in the race to sign Onana.
The Red Devils are said to be a ‘huge admirer’ of Onana’s ability and physicality, with Ten Hag urging the board to make a move for the midfield man.
If Everton are relegated, they’d accept £50m to let Onana leave. That’d be a £17m profit on the £33m they paid to acquire him just last summer.
Onana would be a stunning signing. He’s young, improving all the time and an ideal stylistic fit for this United team. He’d offer Casemiro the chance to rest up properly in between games, with Onana someone who can pick up the baton when the Brazilian starts to slow down.
You get the feeling that having Champions League football on offer is an absolute minimum, while it’s not a guarantee Everton will go down. Right now, this move feels like a long shot, though it’s certainly one worth exploring.
