Man United are interested in signing Kim Min-jae, though the deal isn’t done.
Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move to sign Kim Min-jae this week. Those stories are certainly picking up pace. We covered a big Italian claim just this morning.
The defender, who has a release clause of around £40m that becomes active for a couple of weeks in July, is going to be highly sought-after this summer. United are seemingly close to the front of the queue.
Well, talkSPORT have provided the latest information on the Min-jae front. They seem to believe United still have plenty of work to do yet, in order to complete the deal.
Apparently, United ‘are interested’ in signing the 26-year-old, though they’re yet to agree a deal to bring in the man from South Korea.
The aforementioned linked report from II Matino claimed that United only had the final details to sort with Min-jae, though talkSPORT believes that’s not the case, with significantly more work to do until a deal is close.
Min-jae only made the move to Napoli just last summer, in a £15m move from Fenerbahce. While it’s true the Serie A champions would profit heavily if they sold the 26-year-old, there’s still a possibility he could remain in Italy.
If United do win the race to bring him in, this would be a huge coup. It’d offer Erik ten Hag another top-class option at central defence, while also leaving Harry Maguire as a more expendable player.
Perhaps any potential Min-jae deal is reliant on selling first. Maguire isn’t really the right player profile for this current system. If the United captain is sold for big money, it could be used to bring in this direct replacement.
