Man United have eyes on Gent striker, Gift Orban.
It’s common knowledge that Manchester United Football Club will be in the market for a striker this summer. The Old Trafford side need a 20+ goal-a-season hitman who’ll win those tight games.
Wout Weghorst, for all his hard work, isn’t good enough. Anthony Martial simply cannot be trusted. Big money will likely be spent on a world-class number nine, though I wouldn’t put it past United and Erik ten Hag to move for a player who isn’t as well-known.
The latest from Nieuwsblad, via Stretty News, seem to think young attacker, Gift Orban, could be a target.
The man who plays for Gent is enjoying himself in the Belgian league. He’s scored nineteen goals in nineteen games across all competitions since signing for the club in January.
Now, it’s being claimed that United sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old forward.
The Nigerian only cost Gent £2m in January. If they were to sell him six months later, no doubt they’d want a hefty profit to let Orban leave – particularly after the impact he’s made.
Aged just twenty, Orban isn’t someone who’d be able to come to Manchester and lead the line from day one. You get the impression this signing would be one alongside a top-tier name.
Orban would need time to settle into life in a new country, in a new system, playing for a new manager. There’s also the pressures that United brings. It’s arguably the biggest club on the planet, with all eyes watching at all times. Adjusting to that is easier said than done.
Either way, it’s good to learn that United are still doing their due diligence, looking for that next big thing.
