Man United could make their move to sign ex-Liverpool winger, Sadio Mane, this summer.
Manchester United have already been linked with a whole host of names ahead of the summer transfer window, which feels somewhat ironic as we still do not know who are owners will be at that point.
The Red Devils’ sale still remains up in the air, with both Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassmin remaining in the running to purchase the 20-time Premier League champions.
Despite that, the transfer rumours continue. Today’s story comes from the Daily Mail. They go big, viewing United as a serious contender to acquire ex-Liverpool winger, Sadio Mane.
Apparently, United are one of the ‘likeliest clubs’ to sign the 31-year-old attacker this summer, though they’ll face competition from top four rivals, Newcastle United.
Mane only signed for Bayern Munich just last summer, in a deal worth around £27.5m. However, it’s now expected that the Bavaria giants are to sell the man from Senegal after a troubled campaign.
Only Premier League sides are able to afford Mane’s high salary, with United one of the sides linked with a cut-price move to sign the versatile attacker.
There can be no doubt that Mane would improve United’s squad on the whole, though it’d mean fewer minutes for the in-form Marcus Rashford, as they both prefer that left-wing position.
Another concern is the fact that Mane is 31. Perhaps his elite years are now behind him. This would be nothing but a stop-gap signing for United, who already have some older players on their books in other positions. Adding further veterans to the squad may not be the wisest idea, particularly if Ten Hag’s vision is a long-term one.
