Manchester City are considering a potential player exchange involving Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich and Joao Cancelo, according to reports in the UK.
Cancelo is on loan at the Bundesliga club until the end of the season but, even though they do have the option to buy the Portuguese international for €70m (£61m), Bayern are not expected to keep the player as things stand.
However, City may look to offer Cancelo in their attempt to bring Kimmich to the Etihad. Reports emerged last week that the Premier League champions are keen on securing the 28-year-old’s services, while manager Pep Guardiola has worked with the midfielder before during his spell as head coach at Bayern.
With Kimmich said to be considering his future following Julian Nagelsmann’s departure from the Allianz Arena, there could be an opportunity for a swap deal to take place.
Kimmich Does Have Suitors Other Than City
There have been claims made in the Spanish press that three other teams could make their own moves for Kimmich.
The likes of Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool may rival City for the German international’s signature.
