Man United are looking to extend the contract of Facundo Pellistri.
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United is slowly taking shape. The Dutch manager has almost been in charge for a year now, implementing his style of play, while also getting to know his players.
The Red Devils boss will now have a better idea in regard to who he wants to keep around in the long run. He’ll also know who he’d like to part ways with during this crucial summer window.
Well, one man who is fairly in Ten Hag’s plans is Facundo Pellistri. The young man from Uruguay has looked dangerous every single time he’s pulled on the Red shirt, despite limited appearances.
The winger has been utilised against tired defences on the right-hand side, showing real promise. Now, United are trying to tie Pellistri down in the long term.
It’s Fabrizio Romano with the claim. He states that United are ‘now advancing’ in talks to extend the contract of the 21-year-old starlet. Apparently, the club want to tie him down until 2028.
Romano adds that the plans for Pellistri are ‘very clear’, without really going into detail what that means.
You’d imagine Pellistri will feature on pre-season tour this summer, where Ten Hag will get to see the Uruguay winger up close and personal, while also in the match scenario.
Then, a decision will likely be made. Pellistri will either stay around and become a bigger factor within the United first-team setup, or head out on loan. With no real links to wide players taking place, I’d imagine he, just like Amad, will be involved relatively heavily.
Either way, it’s nice to see United invest in their future. It’s how the club’s foundations have been built, so it makes sense for United to stick with what they’re good at.
