Manchester City have made enquiries about the availability of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, according to reports in the French media.
The Italian, who has been capped 53 times by his country, only signed a new three-a-half-year contract back in December so the claims about the Premier League champions being interested are somewhat surprising.
Considering Verratti is now 30 years of age as well, he isn’t exactly a spring chicken, and fans on Twitter are very much against the club pursuing the player:
If this was 5 years ago maybe

We don’t need midfielder who has tired legs. Kimmich is clear and versatile

City are in the market for midfielders
With captain Ilkay Gundogan set to leave the Etihad on a free transfer, and with doubts over the future of Bernardo Silva, you would expect that there will be new additions in the middle of the park this summer.
Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich has been mentioned as another possible target. The German is said to be unsettled and the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in the holding midfielder.
Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic has been heavily linked too, while a younger alternative could be Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga.
