Man United are prepared to dump Anthony Martial, with the club running out of patience with the attacker.
Manchester United have certainly improved defensively this season. Credit must go to Erik ten Hag, his coaching staff, and the new signings for that.
However, the Red Devils have struggled in the final third. Outside of Marcus Rashford, the club have had no consistent source of goals. That has to change next season.
Several strikers have been linked with an Old Trafford transfer, though it could take a player sale before that spot opens up. Anthony Martial could be the name on the chopping block.
It’s The Sun, with the report. They claim United are ‘to dump’ the 27-year-old, after ‘running out of patience’ with the player.
Martial headed straight down the tunnel after being subbed off around the hour mark of this weekend’s game against Bournemouth. He’d later appear on the substitutes bench, suggesting he wasn’t injured.
The attacker has struggled to stay fit this term, but the contributions haven’t been enough when he has played. He has eight goals in 27 appearances.
According to the report, the United ‘hierarchy’ want him out, with Ten Hag in agreement.
From a fans’ perspective, it’s the body language and lack of movement that leaves us all frustrated, while The Sun claims that there were raised eyebrows amongst staff recently, when Martial chose to wear gloves while playing on a mild Manchester day…
The fact of the matter is this. Martial has been at United for eight seasons now. He’s never fulfilled that potential.
He’s supposed to be in his prime right now. I have no trust in him to start contributing regularly. Perhaps a move away is in the best interests of everyone. That’s not to say he isn’t talented. Far from it, in fact. It just looks as though a change in scenery could help Martial out.
