With the season likely to end on a disappointing note, the summer transfer will become even more crucial for Bayern Munich. Thomas Tuchel will look to strengthen key areas in the summer to make sure Bayern competes on all fronts next season.
Signing a new striker is a top priority for Bayern in the summer. They have struggled for goals this season after Robert Lewandowski left for Barcelona in the last summer transfer window. Rekordmeister is looking at several options for this role. The Bavarian club seems to have added another young forward to the list of targets for this position.
According toSportBild’s Christian Falk, Bayern has Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez on their shortlist for a number nine. The Argentine forward has been in sensational form for club and country this season, which has prompted interest from Die Roten.
Sky Sports in Germany has also confirmed that Alvarez features in Bayern’s transfer shortlist for the summer. However, the Argentine striker is not the top target for the number nine position. Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani remains the first-choice option for Die Roten.
Manchester City signed Alvarez from Riverplate in the winter transfer window last year for £16 million. He arrived in Manchester during the summer window. The Argentine has largely been the second-choice striker at Man City behind Erling Haaland. He will have the same role in the squad next season unless Haaland gets injured.
Manchester City is in complete control of Alvarez’s future since his contract expires in 2028. The Argentine will have to force a move in the summer, but Man City will be able to ask for a significant fee due to the forward’s potential. Despite being the second-choice striker at Man City, Alvarez has scored 17 goals across all competitions. He also scored four goals for Argentina in World Cup 2022.
Alvarez will be a great fit for Bayern, provided they get him for a decent transfer fee. Bayern has good ties with Man City as they successfully sealed deals for Joao Cancelo and Leroy Sane in the recent past. The English club may look to get €50-60 million for the Argentine forward if he wants to leave in the summer.
Meanwhile, SportBild (via iMiaSanMia) also reported that Randal Kolo Muani would make a decision on his future after Frankfurt’s DFB Pokal final against RB Leipzig. Die Roten will look to see if a deal is possible for the French forward before moving on to other forwards, such as Alvarez.
