Pere Guardiola is involved in contract negotiations between Barcelona and Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan, according to AS.
The brother of City manager, Pep, is playing an intermediary role in talks, with Gundogan’s uncle and agent also part of the process.
Gundogan has only been offered a one-year extension by the Premier League champions and the player was disappointed that a longer-term deal wasn’t put on the table.
In contrast, Barca are prepared to give him a three-year contract and AS claim the 32-year-old is currently leaning towards making the switch to the Camp Nou.
Gundogan also has interest from other clubs
Trusted journalist David Ornstein has reported that Arsenal are very keen on securing the German international’s services, with manager Mikel Arteta looking to reunite with the player he coached during his time at the Etihad.
However, it is believed that Barcelona are very much the favourites to sign Gundogan if he chooses to leave Manchester. The midfielder has reportedly wanted to play in Spain for many years and Barcelona’s offer is more attractive for that reason.
