There is “very little chance” that Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar will join Manchester City this summer, according to L’Equipe.
The French publication does claim that manager Pep Guardiola has “called up” the Brazilian international to gauge his interest but the player is more likely to move elsewhere if he leaves France in the coming weeks.
Relations between Neymar and PSG have become strained, with the player having failed to turn up for the club’s penultimate match of the season at the weekend.
The 31-year-old is currently sidelined with an ankle injury but it was expected that he would be in the stands for the 1-1 draw versus Strasbourg. It will be interesting to see whether he makes an appearance for the club’s final home fixture against Clermont this weekend.
Other Premier League clubs are also pursuing Neymar
L’Equipe report that Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle are among “several” Premier League clubs who have “expressed interest” in signing the striker.
However, as things stand, Neymar is not expected to leave Paris, with the Brazilian still having three years left on his contract at the Parc des Princes.
