Burnley recreate the hilarious ‘Wazzup’ video to announce Dara O’Shea capture as the Irishman takes his place in famous Scary Movie montage
Burnley have announced the signing of Republic of Ireland defender Dara O’Shea from West Brom in Hollywood fashion.
O’Shea was born over 5000 miles away from the movie production sets of Los Angeles, but made his way into the famous Scary Movie montage as Burnley’s media team took an unusual approach to unveiling their new addition.
The 24-year-old has agreed a four-year deal at Turf Moor following the Clarets’ promotion to the Premier League.
Vincent Kompany’s side kick off the new top-flight campaign at home to champions Manchester City on Friday, August 11 after lifting the Sky Bet Championship title last term.
The iconic clip begins with the masked Scream villain calling unexpecting victims in an attempt to frighten them.

However, things take a turn when the phone call transcends into chaos with people hilariously shouting ‘Wazzup’ down the phone and a would-be scary moment turning into a comedy sketch.
O’Shea’s involvement comes as the 6ft 1in defender shouts ‘Wazzup’ while sticking his tongue out and holding a black handset to his head.
The Burnley defender features again as he responds to being asked what he is doing, stating: ‘Nothing, just chilling, I’m signing for Burnley.’
The video then ends and O’Shea’s brief acting spell is over. Fortunately football has paved a career for him because that acting display wouldn’t have instilled much confidence in movie directors.
O’Shea was back in his comfort zone when he later explained the reasons behind the decision to join Burnley for their first season back in the Premier League.
‘It feels great to be here and I really can’t wait to get going,’ O’Shea told Burnley’s website.
‘Burnley were the outstanding team last season and they achieved exceptional things.
Vincent Kompany believes O’Shea can play a big part in Burnley’s progression as a club
Republic of Ireland international O’Shea played 107 times for the Baggies after coming through their youth academy
‘I want to improve as a player first and foremost and I want to help the club achieve their goals.
‘I’m at the stage of my career now when I want to push myself. I want to be the best I can be and this is the club that can help me do that and I can help them too.’
Dublin-born O’Shea, who has been capped 19 times by his country, made 107 appearances during his time with the Baggies, which also included loan spells at Hereford and Exeter.
Clarets boss Kompany said: ‘It’s great to welcome Dara to Burnley and we know he can play a big part in the progression of our football club.
‘(He is) strong at the back as well as confident moving forward, a leader with experience and knowledge of playing at the highest level.’
