Our confirmed MUFC XI for the pre-season game vs Lyon in Edinburgh is now in.
Manchester United’s second pre-season game of the summer is now here, with Erik ten Hag and the Red Devils heading North of the border to take on Lyon in Edinburgh.
The gaffer named another young-looking squad for this short trip, ahead of the US leg of the tour starting this weekend. Presumably, that’s when all the big hitters will arrive.
Anyway, for now, we get to see a glimpse into the future, with plenty of next-generation starlets set to be involved in some capacity here. A few of these lads have been handed starts in this game, so it’ll be intriguing to see how they get on against a top Lyon side.
Check out our confirmed MUFC XI vs Lyon in full here:
Matej Kovar is the most senior goalkeeper in this group, so it’s good to see him start. He looked super comfortable with the ball at feet last week.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka plays at right-back, with the Englishman looking to continue his good form. Alvaro Fernandez plays at left-back, with the Spaniard hoping to impress. Raphael Varane and Lisnadro Martinez start at the heart of the back four.
Mason Mount had a solid debut against Leeds United a week ago, though this is another stern test for him. Kobbie Mainoo deserves this opportunity to start, too. Hannibal will complete the midfield trio.
Amad will probably start in the number nine position here, most likely floating around and interchanging with both Antony and Jadon Sancho, who play on his right and left respectively.
