Riyad Mahrez is drawing closer to a move to the Saudi Pro League after Al Ahli agreed a £30m fee for the Manchester City winger.
The Saudi outfit had earlier upped their starting bid of £18.5m to £27m but have been forced to go higher still after the Citizens rejected both proposals.
Mahrez will be free to proceed with his medical after being left out of Man City‘s tour of Japan which gets underway on Thursday.
Mail Sport understands that the Algerian leaves the Etihad with a heavy heart in the knowledge that his top-flight career in England is effectively over.
The 32-year-old, who has spent five years in Manchester following his arrival from Leicester City, is expected to sign a three-year deal with the club.

He will be joining an Al-Ahli side who have already snapped up former Liverpool star Roberto Firmino and ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy this summer.
Mahrez’s departure from the Premier League champions brings an end to his storybook time on English shores following his unheralded arrival from French side Le Havre in 2014.
The tricky forward made his mark at the King Power with Leicester City, becoming a driving force in the side’s survival from relegation in his debut campaign.
Before starring for the Foxes’ as their claimed a scarcely believable Premier League crown in 2016, for which the Algerian was rewarded with the honour of being named PFA Players’ Player of the Year.
Upon his arrival in Manchester, following a £60m transfer, Mahrez has played an integral part in Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering side, claiming ten major trophies in just five seasons.
He is set to join old rivals Eduard Mendy and Roberto Firmino at the Saudi club, while Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin could also feature for the side next term.
